A friend was moving and asked if I would like her Mecca polish, Mariana. So of course I said yes! Plus it’s been ages since I have swatched a different brand so I was curious to see what this polish would be like. Does is Mecca polish live up to the brands’ reputation? Mecca Nail Polish Swatch and Review – Mariana
Mariana is a peach coloured nude shade that looks light and airy with a little brightness. I was really excited to give this polish a go but I had just done my nails, so I used my swatch wheel.
On the first coat, it is very sheer. The second coat added much more depth in the colour and by the third coat, I was pretty happy with it. However as my swatch wheel is clear, it doesn’t always give a true representation of the opaqueness of a shade especially when the formula isn’t very pigmented or thick. For Mariana, the polish formula is really thin. So for a fair Mecca Nail Polish Swatch, I had to try it on my own nails to see if that helped.
I found the colour to be very opaque on my own nails as well. At 3 coats you can still see the end of my nail really the only advantage is that it hides the yellow from all of my nail polish usage.
In terms of dry time is was about average, not taking too long but it wasn’t super quick either. I was kind of expecting it to dry quickly with how thin this polish is.
Overall – 2/5
If I had bought this polish to be a solid peach I would have been really disappointed. As a light base for nail art, it’s ok as long as you don’t mind the end of your nail showing through. It would probably suit a french tip design (check out the video above to see how this looks).
If compare the polish to something like Natio Dune, I would prefer the Natio polish just because it is more opaque.
