The dreaded words moving house. Only made harder with a bunch of tiny glass bottles. I’ll be moving house with nail polish in a few weeks and thought I would share my tips for packing up your nail polish collection. I wrote a similar post a few years back when I had less than half of the bottles that I have today. So my previous technique may still work if your collection is small. For this move, I decided to take a different approach.
Packaging
My plan started with working out how I was going to secure my polish so that it wouldn’t break. I quickly settled on bubble wrap. To make things easier I had a look for some small pouches that I could just pop the bottles into. Unfortunately, the cheapest one that I could find would have cost me over $200, so I looked at large rolls of bubble wrap and found one at a local store for $10.
Packing
I wanted to make this as efficient as possible, in terms of time spent wrapping the polishes. Cutting a strip of bubble wrap about the width of the nail polish hight I was ready to start. I placed one polish down, wrapped the bubble wrap around it, then added the second bottle repeating the wrapping step. I then added the third and last polish. By doing this the polishes were securely wrapped and rather than needed to tape and wrap the bottles individually I could do three at once.
Moving House with Nail Polish
I was lucky in this case that I had the option of popping the polishes in my car and taking them over to my new place. For really delicate items I opt for this option just so I know they will be carefully treated. However, if I didn’t have this option I would add some additional bubble wrap around them to ensure they stay as safe as possible.
Overall
The polishes arrived safe and sound without any breaks. I hope this guide to moving house with nail polish helped you. Also, don’t forget to take care of your nails when moving house by following my nail care guide.
