Birdie Num Num Swatch | Smith & Cult

Birdie Num Num - Smith and Cult

A few weeks ago I received a bunch of nail polish for my Birthday, that included a brand I have never heard off before Smith & Cult. I was intrigued especially by the shade of Birdie Num Num and the weight of the bottle. So lets into the Birdie Num Num swatch!

Smith & Cult – Unique Bottle Design

It’s hard to not notice the bottle design of the Smith & Cult nail polish. Its round shape is quite unique as most bottles are more tall and oval. The removable lid is also stunning! The gold colour adds a little luxury to the bottle and I love the unique shape. Both the lid and bottle are surprisingly heavy, I don’t think I’ve ever felt a bottle as heavy as this. It’s clear that the materials used to make this beautiful bottle are of high quality.

While I could stare at the bottle all day its Birdie Num Num swatch time! Given that this is the first time using this brand, I kept the layers thin which I’m glad I did. This polish took a really long time to dry. Making things worse was that every time I added a new layer it seemed to be really soft, so if I accidentally nocked my nail it would leave a massive imprint or dent that I don’t normally get. I have had this issue with other polishes in the past but it’s not ideal. Once I realised that the layers would soften every time that I added a coat I just took extra care to not touch my nails accidentally.

For the colour, this blue is absolutely stunning. It’s such a pretty shade. The polish is pretty opaque. If I didn’t do thin coats I could have gotten away with just 2 coats. However, I think the drying issue would have been a lot worse with the two coats.

Overall – 4/5

Birdie Num Num - Smith and Cult

The bottle shape and quality, the beautiful colour and the long-wearing qualities make this a great polish. The only real downside is the drying time which is incredibly long. If I found a colour that I really wanted I would consider getting this brand again but the drying time makes me reluctant. I’m hopeful that the other colour I was gifted doesn’t take as long to dry. I’ll be swatching that in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for that post.
