Darjeeling Darling Swatch | Smith & Cult Nail Polish

Following on from my swatch of Birdie Num Num by Smith & Cult I thought I should continue the swatching with the dark green polish Darjeeling Darling, that was also gifted to me. For the Darjeeling Darling swatch, I was really interested to see it Darjeeling Darling would have the same issues as Birdie Num Num.

Darjeeling Darling Swatch

I won’t go too much into the bottle design in this post as I covered it in a fair bit of detail in my swatch of Birdie Num Num. However, I will say that even with the dark green colour polish the bottle looks just as pretty.

The polish itself is a very dark green shade that my partner described as emerald green. Similar to when I swatched Birdie Num Num, I applied thin layers so that it would dry quickly.. I’m glad to say the colour is a lot more opaque than the blue and it dried in about half the time. It still seemed to have the softness when dried that the blue had but it wasn’t as bad.

It terms of the wear, over the week it didn’t chip too much. However, the polish became dual and scratched. I added an extra coat of polish to each of the blank nails for the photos as I didn’t get the chance to take the photos when my nails were fresh. As I wasn’t able to add a fresh layer to the accent nail you can see the dullness here. I think this is the first time I have had this issue, although I have heard others describe the problem.

Adding a bit of Nail Art

I wanted to add a little nail art so using a very bright green, #52 Lemon Tree by MDU I applied some nail stamping. Using plate stamping plate BM-716 by Maniology I created an accent nail, as I wanted to highlight the base polish (use code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology).

I liked the contrasting colours of the dark and bright green.

Overall – 4/5

My thoughts on this polish are simular to Birdie Num Num but for different reasons. I like the colour and its a really nice polish but I wouldn’t purchase/request for any more. The dullness and scratch marks that appeared towards the end of the week mean that I need to either add more polish over the top or change my mani mid-week.

  3. Ooooh. Yessss!! The bottle is kind of fancy ! Girl on a side note, loving your nails. I lonely to grow mine but always seem to hit a pothole in the road with that mysterious split on the side with my thumb nails. Lol

    1. Thanks so much! My personal recommendation is something like the Sally Hansen growth or strengthening polish with some cuticle oil.
